Until the end of the season, James Garner joined Nottingham Forest on loan after parent club Manchester United cut his stay at Watford short.

The 19-year-old midfielder made a good start to the Vicarage Road season and has featured in 20 of the 26 Hornets Championship games, but with the arrival of new boss Xisco Munoz, he has been frozen out of the team.

Therefore, United made the decision to recall him and set up the international England Under-20 with a fresh loan move to another Championship side in Forest.

Forest manager Chris Hughton told the website of the club:’ James is a bright young talent in the central midfield and it is a position where in recent weeks we have had injury issues and missed players.

He has completed a successful spell at Watford where he has acquired some much-needed experience in the Championship and we are sure that between now and the end of the season he will be a valuable help to us.

‘In the first half of the season, Garner played a major role in Watford’s promotion bid, clocking up 20 appearances and one assist for the Hornets.
